Twyford Scarecrow Trail

The Twyford Scarecrow Trail is back this October half term, and applications are now open for residents, businesses, and community groups who would like to take part!

From Monday 27th October to Saturday 1st November, the village will be transformed into a wonderful trail of creative scarecrows for everyone to enjoy. This will be the third year running the trail, organised jointly by the Polehampton Infant and Junior Schools PTA and The Colleton School PTA, and we can’t wait to see the streets of Twyford come alive again.

This year’s theme is “T for Twyford”, so let your imagination run wild! Your scarecrow could be:

  • A famous person whose name begins with “T” (Taylor Swift? Tom Hardy? Tina Turner?)
  • Someone trampolining, tap dancing, or doing Taekwondo
  • An creature like a tortoise or toucan
  • Or your child’s favourite TV or book character that fits the theme

If you live in Twyford, simply sign up using the form below and display your scarecrow from 9am–5pm each day of the trail. If you don’t live in the village but would love to join in, we can match you with a local resident or business who can host your creation, just drop an email to polehamptonpta@gmail.com.  Applications are open until Wednesday 8th October.

2025 Theme: “Mortimer’s Gone Potty”

This year, we’re going potty – literally!
Every scarecrow must include at least one plant pot in its design. Let your creativity blossom: think flowerpot-headed heroes, animals in bloom, or anything else that springs from your imagination. Characters can be real or fictional, human or animal – just make sure there’s a pot (or several) involved!

Key Dates
  • Trail runs: Saturday 25 October (9am) – Sunday 02 November (4pm)
  • Scarecrows must be visible: Daily from 9am until dusk
  • Entry deadline: Monday 22 September 2025
